Storm Light

$3,400.00

"Storm Light" (30 x 30") captures that uncanny moment when light breaks through tempest—when brilliant gold pierces churning darkness, creating a presence both beautiful and unsettling. This painting embodies the transitory, the fleeting quality of storm-filtered illumination.

Working with oil paint, I built up turbulent passages of navy, teal, and slate blue that suggest roiling clouds or troubled water. Against this darkness, a band of golden light erupts—neither quite sky nor water, but both simultaneously. The light feels almost aggressive in its brilliance, creating a disquieting beauty that speaks to nature's power and indifference.

The painting holds tension between destruction and revelation. Storm light reveals what calm skies hide—it makes visible the architecture of weather, the drama of atmospheric forces. This is not peaceful contemplation but acknowledgment of nature's capacity for violence and sudden beauty. The transitory presence the title suggests might be the storm itself, the light, or our own smallness in the face of such power.

Professional-grade oil on canvas. Edges painted, ready to hang. Signed on back. Certificate included.
