Gossamer Wings

$5,400.00

"Gossamer Wings" captures that magical moment when delicate insect wings catch the light in a summer garden. This painting emerged from my fascination with nature's most ephemeral beauties—those translucent structures that seem almost too fragile to exist yet possess remarkable strength.

Working with oil over acrylic underpainting allows me to build luminous transparency. Deep blues and teals anchor the composition while brilliant orange bursts suggest both light catching wings and the insects themselves in flight. Linear elements throughout evoke stems, grasses, and the delicate veining of wings—those dendritic patterns that appear throughout nature from the smallest to largest scales.

The title "gossamer" speaks to that quality of being so light and thin as to be almost transparent, yet visible and present. I wanted to capture not just what we see but what we feel when we witness these small miracles—the sense of wonder at nature's intricate beauty.

My hope is that viewers will slow down, look closer, and rediscover their own capacity for seeing the extraordinary in small things.

Professional-grade oil on gallery-wrapped canvas. Edges painted, ready to hang. Signed on back. Certificate included.
