BREATHE WAVES

$6,050.00

"Breathe/Waves" (48 x 60") from the Breathing Series explores breath at its most dynamic—the turbulent power of breath under stress, during exertion, in moments when breathing becomes conscious, urgent, forceful.

Working with oil glazed over acrylic subpainting, I built up swirling passages of burgundy, purple, and deep blue interwoven with cream and pale green. Unlike the gentler rhythm paintings in this series, here breath becomes storm—waves crashing rather than gently undulating. The four lung-like forms twist and churn, capturing breath's capacity for power and intensity.

This is breath during movement, during emotion, during those moments when we're acutely aware of breathing because it requires effort. The painting suggests both ocean waves in storm and the heaving of lungs during exertion—that moment when breath becomes visible as movement, when the internal rhythm manifests as external force. The burgundy and purple tones suggest the oxygen-depleted intensity of breathlessness, while pale passages offer glimpses of air breaking through.

This is breath as force, as power, as the engine that drives us through intensity.

Professional-grade oil on canvas. Edges painted, ready to hang. Signed on back. Certificate included.
