Big Sky 1

$4,800.00

Oil on Canvas

2017

Size in inches: 48 x 48"

Size in cm: 121.9 x 121.9 cm

"Big Sky 1" (48 x 48") captures the drama of atmosphere at monumental scale—clouds roiling, light breaking through, the sky revealing itself as event rather than backdrop.

Working with oil on canvas, I built up sweeping passages of steel blue and gray punctuated by brilliant bursts of golden yellow where sunlight pierces the cloud mass. The painting suggests that moment when weather becomes theatre, when you look up and the sky demands attention. Storm gathering or clearing? Light winning or losing? The painting holds that tension, that threshold between states.

The 48x48" square format creates immersion. This isn't a window view of sky but sky as environment, as the thing you're standing inside. Montana gets called "Big Sky Country" for good reason—that sense of sky dominating landscape, of atmosphere as the main event. This painting captures that vastness even when hung indoors, bringing the drama and scale of weather into your space.

I wanted to paint sky not as pretty background but as force—as weight, mass, light, and power. As the thing that shapes how we feel and what we see. As presence.

Professional-grade oil on canvas. Edges painted, ready to hang. Signed on back. Certificate included.
