CONTINUING ON THE PATH
Drawing inspiration from the long trajectory of historical painting, I continually strive for singular modes of expression in my work. Color is one of the most powerful communication tools and forms a relationship to the viewer's deep-seated consciousness. Therefore, I utilize color as the prime focus in my painting constructions whilst applying mark-making as the structural element to create fluid movements around and into my pictorial surfaces. The densely painted canvas requires the viewer to linger, thereby initiating further discovery into what my marks describe.
This series represents a deep exploration of the use of form, color and movement in abstract painting. While certain paintings still refer to locations or the experience one has in the world, most of these images have divorced from everyday visual experiences. The paintings seem to hover in an endless state of "becoming" and never resolve.
